Data Scientist
Overview
Spherical is seeking a Data Scientist to advance feature development and data communication for our Living Infrastructure Field Kit, a geospatial application for communities to co-create and model infrastructure. You will report to the Head of Product as a contractor.

Current Project
What You'll Do
- Analyze geospatial data sets and develop methodologies for data aggregation and binning
- Audit our data layers and provide recommendations to improve legibility and interpretability
- Review data sets to select and label data fields for presentation in the user interface
- Support ad hoc data set transformations, such as combinations and de-duplications of data sets
- Collaborate with designers and writers to advise on effective and accurate data communication
What You Need
- 4+ years of experience working as a professional data scientist and/or analyst
- Experience working with geospatial data sets
- Comfortable working with Python-based data tools
- Experience with statistical methods for analyzing data sets
- Experience with the following domains a plus: ecology, climate, environmental justice, or infrastructure
- Experience contributing to software product development a plus

- Remote (must be in UTC -8 to -4 time zones)
- Part-time (10 hrs/wk)
- Initial project timeline: January–March 2024
- Hourly Range: $95-$120/hr
