Spherical is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in developing web-based tools that support living infrastructure in Los Angeles and beyond. This is a full-time remote position.

Spherical is a creative technology studio supporting projects regenerating the health and integrity of Earth’s living systems. In collaboration with ARLA, we are developing an open-source field kit of tools to support community-driven climate resilience in Los Angeles and beyond. Current Project

What you need

• 7+ years of experience as a professional software developer
• 4+ years of experience working on full-stack web apps (SPAs) in JavaScript/Typescript
• Experience designing and maintaining database schemas
• Passion for writing and maintaining automated test suites
• Track record of championing best practices in past roles
• Ability to work independently within a non-hierarchical team
• Bonus points for experience with: cartography, Mapbox, geospatial data visualization, realtime web apps, WebGL/3D graphics, accessibility

What you’ll do

• Work on our realtime community engagement and mapping tool
• Contribute to new feature development alongside other individual contributors
• Lead the development of a robust test suite incorporating end-to-end and unit tests
• Inform the software architecture and lead major refactoring initiatives

• Salary Range: $135,000 - $165,000
